Dear CSA Member,
Our farm experienced a devastating disaster by flooding and we have lost all of our crops and suffered some infrastructure damage as well. On December 4th, 2019, the Tijuana River experienced a sudden overflow of water and ended up flooding Pixca and other neighboring farms. We are unsure of the precedence of these waters as some cross international lines as well as semi-rural areas and might be potentially contaminated. There have been no tests conducted on the water, soil or crops but we want to ensure the safety of all the produce that leaves our farm and as well as the safety of all our members. For this reason, we will stop our production for up to 3 months until we can start planting edible crops, losing about one quarter of our annual production.

We know and understand this is the nature of farming and we are certainly learning many lessons in this path. One of the greatest lessons has been understanding the balanced relationship of our service to the community and your support to us. We could not do what we do without you and hence the name “Community Supported Agriculture.”
As a young worker-cooperative, we are starting a campaign to raise funds to be able to continue with all the work that needs to be done in order to continue nurturing Pixca during these times of hardship.
If you would like to continue to support us in these difficult times, there are a couple of ways you can do so:
1- You can make a donation of any amount today via Venmo (@pixca-farm) and PayPal (pixca.csa@gmail.com).
2- You can choose to continue to pay your CSA in the dates that you would’ve received it and it will be accounted for when we start distributing our CSA bags in the Spring.
3- You can buy a seasonal membership that accounts for 6 veggie baskets. The bags can be picked up on a weekly basis or bi-weekly basis starting as soon as we start distributing our CSAs in the Spring.
4- You can buy a semi-annual membership that accounts for 12 veggie baskets. The bags can be picked up on a weekly basis or bi-weekly basis starting as soon as we start distributing our CSAs in the Spring.
5- You can buy an annual membership for 24 veggie baskets. The bags can be picked up on a weekly basis or bi-weekly basis starting as soon as we start distributing our CSAs in the Spring.
6- You can purchase gift cards or some of the merchandise we will have available to raise funds. These make excellent gifts to your loved ones during this holiday season.

If you would like to support us in these or any other ways, please contact us! You can visit our shop online right now to buy a membership, a gift card or make a donation. You can also email or call us if you have any questions. All of these options will help us to have a cash flow to invest back into the farm and to continue to produce veggies for our CSA and local farmers markets.
We foresee to be back producing and distributing veggies by April or May 2020. We will definitely keep you posted on any updates.
We would like to thank you for choosing to support our local and naturally grown veggies. We have put our hearts, souls and sweat in creating a cooperative farming project in the San Diego South Bay that produces high quality veggies that can reach our most needed communities. We appreciate everyone who has purchased our veggies and everyone who has kindly shared seeds, plants, and crops with us, lended a hand, and given us words of support.
Again, we thank you because we know with your continued support the farm will recover, persevere and continue to thrive
We hope you have a beautiful winter season. Stay warm and enjoy the beautiful time with your loved ones.
Best,
Jose, Leonard & Cristina
Pixca.
